This week - 6 -12th June - is Aromatherapy Awareness week.
But do you know what Aromatherapy is? It's not just about some nice smelling oils for your massage...
Aromatherapy is the controlled use of essential oils for therapeutic purposes through a variety of methods. These methods include: massage, inhalation, aromatic baths and compresses.
An Aromatherapy massage treatment is an amazingly effective way of delivering essential oils to the body. An Aromatherapy treatment does the following:
Ensures effective absorption of the oil via the skin
Combines sense of touch and smell to physically and mentally relax your client, while also making them feel nourished and cared for
Deeply relaxes your client
Stimulates blood and lymphatic systems
Boosts the immune system
Works on other body systems where appropriate eg the digestive system or respiratory system
Relieves specific ailments and conditions
Balances the body’s energy
Restore the body to a state of ‘rest and repose’ where true healing can take place.
